The Unacademy IAS Scholarship Test (UIST) (“Test”) is a free scholarship Test organized by Sorting Hat Technologies Private Limited (“Unacademy”). The Test shall be valid only within the territory of India.
The Test shall be governed by the terms and conditions mentioned herein as well as the Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy Community Guidelines and any other policies available on the Unacademy website (www.unacademy.com) (“Platform”) and any other terms and conditions published or communicated from time to time. (“Terms”)
Those participating in Test shall be hereinafter referred to as the “Participants”.
The Participants shall be eligible to win prizes and scholarships (“Prize(s)”) as provided on the Platform, and such Prize(s) shall be subject to applicable Terms and conditions as provided here or communicated from time to time. The details of the Prize(s) shall be as given on the Platform or as communicated over email or any other mode of communication.
In order to become a Participant in Test, the Participants must conform to the following eligibility criteria in addition to the Test specific eligibility criteria listed in these Terms and conditions:
The Participant must be;(i) an Individual;(ii) an Indian citizen;(iii) residing in India;(iv) legally eligible to enter into a contract; and(v) must be a registered user of the Platform.
It is hereby clarified that Participants who have an active subscription to any category/goal on the Platform at the time of registration for the Test and/or at the time of disbursing the prizes or rewards shall not be eligible for any prizes or rewards.
Information that is available on the official test page on the Platform (“Test Page”) or as communicated on Unacademy’s official social media handles shall be the only authentic and valid information with respect to the Test. Unacademy shall not be responsible for any incorrect/misleading information relating to Test, presented and/or displayed on any other source other than the Test Page on the Platform & shall not be liable for any loss suffered by any Participants based on the representations, terms and conditions, the information presented and/or displayed on any other source other than the Test Page.
To participate in Test, the Participants are required to follow the following steps:
Log into their Unacademy account.
Participate in the Test while it is live and active on the Test Page;
Participants must attempt the Test while it is live to be eligible for the Prize(s).
Responses to the Test questions should be submitted by the Participants while the Test is live and available on the Test Page. Participants can begin the Test once it is live, but the Test will end at the stipulated end time automatically.
The Test shall be conducted on 14th April 2024 or on any other dates that may be communicated by Unacademy.
The duration of the Test shall be one (1) hour. The timings shall be communicated beforehand.
If a Participant attempts the Test through multiple slots, the Test attempted in the first slot shall be taken into consideration for the purpose of providing any Prizes under these Terms.
The Test shall consist of 50 multiple choice questions based on the free mock test format conducted for the UPSC CSE prelims exams.
The Participant shall be awarded two (2) marks for each of the questions answered correctly.
For every incorrect answer, there will be a negative marking of “0.66”
After the results are announced, Unacademy will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine if the Participants have conducted themselves in accordance with the Terms.
If at any point in time it is brought to the attention or knowledge of Unacademy that the Participant has engaged in any unethical practices including but not limited to individuals attempting the Test through the same IP address, having prior access to the questions in the Test, usage of any circumventing technology to manipulate the product algorithm or any act which will give the Participant an unfair advantage over other Participants, Unacademy may at its sole discretion cancel any Prize(s) or reward that the Participant is entitled to and bar the Participant from using any product or services offered by Unacademy.
All Prize(s) are subject to the Participants adhering to the Terms.
The Prize(s) are non-endorsable, not transferable, and non-substitutable. The Prize(s) are offered on a 'NO EXCHANGE-NO REFUND' basis. Unacademy will not entertain any requests for exchange in lieu of the Prizes).
Unacademy has endeavoured to make all reasonably practicable arrangements to minimize communication system difficulties or any other technical issues but can make no guarantee thereof and shall not be liable for any failures in the same. Unacademy shall not be responsible and/or liable in any manner whatsoever in case the Participant is unable to participate in the Test due any technical issues or due to the issues with their internet provider, hardware, facility provider, etc.
Any Participant found participating in the Test through multiple accounts shall be disqualified immediately and shall not be entitled to any Prize(s). The Participant shall be barred from participating in any future contests, tests or Test itself at the sole discretion of Unacademy.
The Test is open to participation by individuals only. Corporate entities, agencies and any non-human legal entities are barred from participating in Test. Employees, consultants, interns and educators Unacademy employees and educators are not allowed to participate in Test.
Unacademy will not be liable, in case anyone is unable to participate in the Test on account of not having access to Test.
There is no entry fee or participation fee payable by the Participant/s and Unacademy does not accept any form of payment from the Participants for the Test.
The results of the Test shall be declared on 30th January 2024 or any other date that may be communicated by Unacademy.
Any Participant that is declared as a “Top Ranker” of the Test by Unacademy, and is unable to fulfil any one or more eligibility requirements, as specified in the abovementioned clauses of the Terms , on the last date of the Test, shall be not be eligible to receive any Prize(s) under this Test. Any communication, clarification, query, dispute in this regard by the Top Ranker, or any of the legal heirs/guardians of the Top Ranker in any manner shall not be entertained by Unacademy.
The Top Rankers of the Test shall be contacted by the Unacademy team. In the event there is no response/acknowledgement from the Top Ranker to the communication from Unacademy within a period of 7 days, then the Prize(s) shall be deemed to be forfeited by the Top Ranker.
The Top Rankers of the Test shall submit the necessary documentation/proof of identity and other relevant documentation as requested by Unacademy, within 7 days of receiving such intimation from Unacademy.
Collection of Prize(s) shall be subject to:
Successful completion of the verification process i.e., Participant must respond within 7 days of communication from Unacademy team
Verification of the Participant’s ID
Provision of the correct information/details as requested by Unacademy
Prize(s) shall be dispatched or communicated in 30 days from the date on which the Test is conducted, and shall be delivered within 90 days after successful completion of verification.
Further it is clarified that participation in the Test will not in itself make the Participant eligible for the Prize(s).
The Prize(s) shall be subject to Indian Laws, including all the applicable tax laws.
Unacademy shall not be responsible for any deficiency in the Prize(s) and does not make a representation about the quality, make, performance, features, endurance, finishing, benefits and/or fitness of the Prize(s).
Participants winning the Prize(s) shall be contacted by Unacademy via email or any other mode of communication. Unacademy shall not be liable for any loss, claims, damages, expenses whether expressed, implied, real or consequential incurred by the Participant due to participation, non-participation or otherwise in the Test. Unacademy shall not be liable for any loss that occurs during the dispatch of the Prize(s) to the Top Ranker's address. Once the Prize(s) is accepted by the Top Ranker, Unacademy shall not be responsible for paying any applicable taxes, fee, charges, etc. related to the Prize(s).
Unacademy reserves the right to modify, add or delete any of the Terms at any point of time at its sole discretion without serving any prior intimation.
Unacademy reserves the right to modify the terms of the Test, which shall include without limitation; modification of the date, time and portal through which the exam shall be conducted, cancellation of the Test, modification of Rewards etc.
Any disputes with respect to Test shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Indian Laws without reference to principles of conflict of laws and the courts in Bangalore shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to determine any disputes arising out of, under, or in relation to, this Test.
The Participant shall indemnify and hold harmless Unacademy, its officers, employees, agents, licensees, etc against any and all damages, claims, losses, demands, actions, causes of action, suits, litigation, costs and expenses (including but not limited to, the publication of response(s) submitted by the Participant as a part of, or in association with the Test without limitation, reasonable attorneys' and consultants' fees).
Unacademy shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations caused by weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, terrorist attack, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, pandemic and/or epidemic, acts of God or any other circumstances amounting to Force Majeure.
Unacademy shall not be responsible for any loss or damage. If Unacademy is required to discontinue or cancel Test in compliance with any law, ruling, order, regulation, requirement, or instruction of any Central/State Government or for any other unavoidable reason beyond its control. The Participants shall be informed of such discontinuance/cancellation as early as possible.
The aggregate liability of Unacademy in case of any damage, loss, cost, claim, liability, or expense (including legal costs and expenses) caused to or incurred by any act, omission, or representation in respect of the Prize(s) of Test to any of the Top Rankers, shall not exceed the value of INR 50 (Indian Rupee Fifty only). Further, Unacademy shall not be liable to share the invoice of the Prize(s) unit with the Top Rankers at any given point of time whatsoever.
Any ranks/marks granted before the official announcement of the results shall be provisional and cannot be used to claim any Prize(s), certificates, etc. by Unacademy
Participants shall be eligible to avail Prize(s) for a maximum of one (1) Test, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria and post the verification of the Test results. Unacademy has the sole discretion with respect to the distribution of the Prize(s) and shall decide the eligibility of a Participant to receive the Prize(s) if it has a reason to believe the Participant has engaged in unfair practices or has mala fide intentions.
The Top Rankers shall assign the right to use their name, image, or visual representation, comment, or statement, in any media for promotional, marketing, and advertising purposes or any other objective by Unacademy, as deemed appropriate by Unacademy. By agreeing to the Terms and conditions and attempting the Test, the Top Ranker(s) agrees and provides their consent to Unacademy, to use their testimonials, statements, photographs and/or audio or video recordings taken of the Top Ranker may be used by Unacademy for promotional purposes, which shall include but not be limited to advertising, testimonials, promotion on its online platforms and/or websites, social media channels and for the purpose of online or print advertising or educational awareness.
Ranking Criteria: The ranking criteria shall be based on the Participants securing the highest marks by inputting their response in the least possible time. In the event where two or more Participants secure the same mark, the total time taken to complete the Test, shall be used as a tiebreaker and the Participants with lesser time taken to complete the Test shall be ranked higher.
Results along with the final ranks shall be declared on or before 30th April 2024
Learners will be eligible for rewards only if they purchase the GS Foundation Offline Course..
The learner will only be eligible for a scholarship on the operational fees of each offline GS Foundation program, which is approximately 50% of the actual price.
